About Signcasts

Signcasts is a non-profit news organization dedicated towards civic and participatory journalism by the Deaf and Signing Community. It is 'civic' journalism in the sense that it is dedicated towards using the news to strengthen the social bonds within the community, and foster community engagement, organizing and development. Signcasts is participatory or 'citizen' journalism since we are dedicated towards involving all members of the Signing community in the production of the news.

Open vs. closed captioning

I frankly don’t understand what your Twits on the definitions of open and closed captioning (also “subtitling”) actually mean.
