The Minnesota Department of Education has made recommendations for changes to Special Education Rules in the State of Minnesota. They did not include recommendations made by a group of teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, audiologists and directors of programs for deaf and hard of hearing students. These recommended changes have been endorsed by the Minnesota Commission Serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing People.

We believe we can convince the Judge to add the changes. But we need your help. We are also working with the Disability Law Center, and organizing testimony for the hearing on December 3.
We have 3 sample letters. One is more technical and includes all the changes that have been recommended for teachers audiologists and directors. The second is for parents and the third is for members of the community and their supporters.

The hearing is December 3, 2007 at 10:00 at the Minnesota Department of Education Conference Center. (More info on this at MDE 651-582-8669) Please take immediate action! Add your name and address to the letter and any changes you want to make.
